Flow Meters Versus Water Meters – A Comparison Guide

- A display that shows the reading of the meter.
- A counter that tracks the volume of water that runs through the sensor. The counter maps the pulsations sent through the meter to decide volume and/or speed of flow.
- A transducer that changes and sends out the flow signal.
- A sensor that becomes aware of the water flow.
Additional Differences Between A Flow Meter & Water Meter
- The precision of a flow meter is reliant on linearity, i.e., the capability of staying within the designed limits of the meter, and repeatability, i.e., constantly delivering similar results when the measurements are carried out under similar circumstances. Linearity and repeatability are not essential in water meters that make use of the low and high range measurements mentioned below.
- A water meter is always quantified by two precisions, a low range and a high range measurement. The average between the two measurements decides the right reading.
